These Brazilian kids have been learning English by gently correcting celebrities’ grammar on Twitter.
Can’t say I know too much about Rihanna but I believe she’s from the Caribbean or has a Caribbean background. Out there, they don’t always use the most grammatical English. They use this thing called a dialect. They also tend to type out things the way they say it. The average text from my mother looks like “Ey boy, make sure you take out de trash. Also if your sister is still sleep, make sure ya wake she. Dat girl be sleepin all day.”
No big deal but just saying, replacing her or you with she is pretty common for people with a Caribbean background. I may be wrong about this next one but because I’ve grown up listening to a lot of Caribbean music, what Rihanna’s tweet says sounds a lot like Caribbean song lyrics.
Also Tumblr don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not hating on the kids, or what they’re doing, I just wanted to provide an explanation for what I though might be the case.
